Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson leads a coalition of four parties, including the far-right Sweden Democrats, who have been active in the election campaign in recent weeks.
On Thursday, the Sweden Democrats’ leader voted in the Rinkeby neighborhood, which has a large Somali and immigrant population. Security forces were present to ensure the election proceeded peacefully.
