Hirshabelle Election Commission Announces New 2026 Election Schedule
The Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission has released a revised timetable for the 2026 local council and regional assembly elections in Hirshabelle. The previously planned election date of August 20, 2026, has been postponed due to the commission’s legal duties and election preparations.
According to the new schedule, the election process will begin in September 2026. The preliminary voter list will be published on September 2. Polling stations will be designated by September 15. Voter registration and card distribution will start on September 16.
The final voter list will be released on September 19. The official list of political party candidates will be announced on September 22. The election campaign will close on September 28. Election day is set for September 30, 2026.
The commission urged political parties and the people of Hirshabelle to prepare for the upcoming elections.
