The Electoral Commission Announces New Election Schedule for Hirshabelle

The Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission has announced a revised timetable for the upcoming local council and Hirshabelle regional assembly elections, postponing the previously scheduled vote from August 20, 2026.
The new schedule begins on September 2, 2026, with the publication of the preliminary voter list. Voter registration and distribution of voter cards will commence on September 16, followed by the publication of the final voter list on September 19.
The election campaign will close on September 28, with election day set for September 30, 2026. The commission urged political parties and the people of Hirshabelle to fully participate in the elections.
