Somalia's Federal Government has launched a new program supported by the UK government and implemented in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to strengthen airport security and border management across the country.

The initiative aims to modernize border protection systems, increase the capacity of migration authorities, and reinforce efforts to combat human trafficking, organized crime, and other cross-border threats.

The project will focus on training immigration and security officers, improving technology for verifying travel documents, and enhancing Somalia's cooperation with regional countries to ensure border security.

Officials said the move is part of the government's broader efforts to build a modern system for managing migration and airport security in line with international standards.

The new program is expected to boost Somalia's ability to prevent cross-border crimes while facilitating legal travel and international cooperation on security and migration matters.
