Ankara’s Foreign Ministry summoned Ukraine’s ambassador following two attacks on Turkish-operated ships in the Black Sea.

On Saturday, Turkey’s Foreign Minister spoke with Ambassador Naryman Dzhelialo, expressing concerns about the safety of people, property, maritime travel, and the Black Sea environment, the ministry said in a statement.

The attacks targeted the cargo ship Lider Bordo Mavi, which was hit on Wednesday near the Russian coast at Tuapse. The next day, the Lider Kocatepe was also attacked by a drone while heading to assist the first vessel.

Turkey has recently called for an end to attacks on civilian ships in the Black Sea, where Ukraine and Russia continue to target export routes. Several Turkish ships have been struck by drones reportedly launched from Ukraine. Earlier this month, three crew members aboard the Nadezhda ship were seriously injured in a previous attack.
