Davis was convicted of one count of first-degree murder with a firearm. Sentencing is set for October 13, and he faces life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Neither his lawyer nor the prosecutor’s office commented on the verdict.

Prosecutor Binu Palal stated that Davis followed gang rules by responding to an attack on his family. Palal added that Davis armed himself and sought Tupac Shakur for revenge. The prosecution’s case relied on Davis’s statements in interviews and his memoir, as well as secretly recorded meetings with investigators.

Defense attorney Michael Sanft argued that Davis’s story lacked independent evidence and that the investigation was compromised by corruption and police misconduct. Davis was described as a leader of the Compton Crips gang, which opposed a group linked to Tupac Shakur. Tupac’s murder in 1996 remains a significant event in rap music history.
