President Hassan Sheikh Receives Report from Somali National Army Command

Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received a briefing today from the Somali National Army command on the overall situation of the forces and ongoing operations. Army Commander Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud updated the president on successes in fighting the Al-Shabaab group and maintaining national security.
The commander also presented plans to develop and modernize the army to ensure it has full capacity to secure the country. The president ordered a doubling of operations against Al-Shabaab and an acceleration of efforts to upgrade the forces.
Hassan Sheikh emphasized the importance of the Somali National Army fully fulfilling its national duty to defend the country and protect the people.
