Sabrina Ali Named to BBC Comedy Collective 2026
Sabrina Ali, a British Somali writer, actress, and filmmaker, has been selected for the BBC Comedy Collective 2026, the BBC announced on Friday. Based in London, Ali is among the writers and performers featured in this year’s program.
Ali is known for her play "Dugsi Dayz," which was showcased at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2023. The play won the BBC Writersroom Popcorn Award and the Untapped Award. Rolling Stone named it one of the festival’s highlights. The production later moved to New Diorama and the Royal Court in May 2024. A comedic short film version was also produced by BBC Studios Comedy.
Currently, Ali is developing a horror film titled "Juice" in collaboration with BBC Film, along with other projects blending comedy and horror. She said she hopes to use the BBC Comedy Collective program to advance her comedy writing skills and create new stories for screen and stage.
